Shuttle Bug Studio was initially formed to showcase fabrics of local weavers through the photography of Steve Templeton.
Bio
During a summer job when I was 18, I took photographs of watersheds within a specific conservation area. In reviewing the pictures, my employer said that they had never seen pictures of watersheds expressed in this manner. Many years passed, and I decided to try my hand at photography for my own interest, primarily taking nature photos. My wife’s interest in weaving eventually led to me challenging myself with photographing handwoven articles. I have come to enjoy capturing my own perspective of textiles through a camera lens, which is often a much different view than the weaver has of the textiles that they have made. I have had the honour of working with many talented weavers, and appreciate that they provide me with interesting textiles that I enjoy photographing from my viewpoint.
